Zonder register draait alles om verse adresbewijzen

Ierland heeft geen bevolkingsregister, dus elke instantie vraagt om een adresbewijs van hooguit drie maanden oud — en die heb je als nieuwkomer nog niet.

De officiële uitweg staat op de overheidssite: een originele energierekening van je gastheer met een briefje erop dat jij daar verblijft, of een bevestiging van een hotelmanager. Zet daarna meteen de nutsvoorzieningen op eigen naam — elke rekening is munitie voor het volgende loket.
